JACKSON, Mich. – McKaylah Flagle was named the Crossroads League Defender-of-the-Week on Monday afternoon after a terrific set of games throughout the week. The honor is the second in two years for Flagle, after receiving it once during her freshman campaign.
Flagle earned the distinction off of a terrific week collecting double-digit digs in each of the three matches, which brought her streak of reaching double-digit digs to 14 matches. The New Palestine, Indiana native started the week with a brilliant 15-dig effort in a three-set victory against Saint Francis before marking 12 and then 18 digs in home matches against Goshen and RV Marian. Not only was the outstanding sophomore diving on the floor for every dig, but she was also stellar from the service line. Flagle notched five service aces against one error throughout the week, collecting at least one in each match, and even delivered eight assists throughout the 2-1 week for TU.
The sophomore standout has been rock steady for the Trojans this year in the back row, sporting an average of 4.15 digs per set, which ranks fourth in the Crossroads League.
The honor for Flagle is the second of the season for TU's volleyball program and becomes the eleventh CL or MSFA Player-of-the-Week award received by a Taylor athlete this fall.
Flagle and the Trojans take on cross-county rivals No. 1 Indiana Wesleyan (29-0, 18-0 CL) on Saturday, November 4, in the Crossroads League Quarterfinals in Marion, Indiana, beginning at 4:00 pm.
