INDIANAPOLIS – The Crossroads League announced TU's Jared Adkins as its Baseball Player of the Week on Monday evening, after the junior continued to pile up impressive stats over a stretch of four contests.
Adkins collected eight hits in 16 at bats in the four games, driving six of those knocks for extra-bases and ending the week with a double, three triples and two home runs for a 1.313 slugging percentage and a 1.949 OPS. In addition to the power numbers, Adkins scored eight times, drove in five, walked four times and stole three bases.
Adkins hit for the cycle against No. 21 IU Southeast, scored twice in each of Taylor's four outings, had three multi-hit games and extended his single-season TU program records of home runs and steals.
The honor is the first for Adkins, as he joins Colin Eggleson, Andrew Kennedy, Logan Rodgers and Wyatt Whitman as the fifth TU baseball player to be recognized by the Crossroads League this year.
Adkins and the Trojans closed the 2017 campaign at 35-21 overall and claimed second place in the Crossroads League with a 20-7 mark.
