UPLAND, Ind. - Days after playing major roles in TU's lopsided, 56-10, victory at Anderson on Saturday, Cody Schwerin and Wynn Coggin earned player-of-the-week honors from the Mid-States Football Association.
Schwerin was named the MSFA Mideast League Defensive Player of the Week after highlighting a dominant defensive unit that held the Ravens to 3.1 yards per play for 178 total yards of offense. The senior lineman wreaked havoc all night with a career-high three sacks for a loss of 16 yards among his four total hits.
Coggin was perfect in point-after tries to earn MSFA Mideast League Special Teams Player-of-the-Week honors. The sophomore kicker connected on each of his eight point-after attempts to account for eight of TU's 56-point outburst.
Taylor (1-1) will be back in action on Saturday, September 13, when it hosts No. 17 Saint Ambrose (0-0) for a 1:00 pm start inside New Stadium. The contest will be webcast live on the Trojan Sports Network at http://portal.stretchinternet.com/taylor/.
