UPLAND, Ind. – Shawn Lashbrook hauled in a career-high four touchdown passes in Taylor's 43-21 Mid-States Football Association opener at Concordia on Saturday and has been named the MSFA Mideast League Offensive Player of the Week.
Lashbrook ended the afternoon with eight catches and set new career-highs with the four touchdowns and 198 receiving yards in the victory. The junior scored from 31, 23, 15 and 11 yards and added a 53-yard reception.
The long 53-yard reception led to a go-ahead field goal in the second quarter and a pair of Lashbrook touchdowns later in the quarter vaulted the Trojans to a 23-7 lead. Back-to-back fourth quarter scores from Lashbrook opened a 23-21 TU lead into a 36-21 spread.
The honor is the first in the career of Lashbrook, who claimed First-Team All-MSFA honors following a breakout season in 2013. The Fort Lauderdale, Florida, native has eclipsed 100 yards receiving in six of Taylor's last seven league outings, averaging 129.3 yards per game during that stretch.
Lashbrook and the Trojans (3-3, 1-0 MSFA Mideast) will now face No. 10 Robert Morris (6-0, 2-0 MSFA Mideast) on Saturday at 1:00 pm. The game will be part of TU's Homecoming Weekend.
