Swore Headlines All-MSFA Awards for Trojans
UPLAND, Ind. – The Mid-States Football Association announced the 2019 All-MSFA Mideast League honors on Thursday, with Taylor's TJ Swore being named to the Second-Team and the trio of Zac Saltzgaber, Tyler Hasbrook and Mark Baker taking Honorable Mention honors. The All-MSFA honors were the first for each of the four Trojans.
Swore played in eight games for the Trojans from his linebacker slot, ending with 42 tackles and career-highs of seven hits for lost yardage, two sacks and three interceptions. The junior finished the regular season ranked third among Mid-States Football Association Mideast League performers in interceptions and sixth with 0.9 tackles for a loss per outing.
Saltzgaber started nine games under center for the Purple Gold in his first year of full-time action for the Trojans. The junior quarterback set career-highs with 127.7 passing yards per game, 56.9 rushing yards per game and 11 total touchdowns.
Hasbrook piled up 37 tackles and led Taylor with career-highs of 6.5 sacks, 12 tackles for lost yardage and seven quarterback pressures during his junior season. The defensive end started all 10 contests and finished top-five in the MSFA Mideast League in sacks and tackles for a loss per game.
Baker saved his best for last, starting all 10 games and setting career-highs across the board for the Trojans. The senior linebacker led TU with 73 tackles, placed second with 7.5 hits for a loss and finished third with 2.5 sacks, while ranking top-10 in the MSFA Mideast League in tackles per game.
Swore, Saltzgaber and Hasbrook are all set to return for the Trojans in 2020, highlighting a group that is expected to include nine returning starters on each side of the ball.
