Degenkolb Secures Second CoSIDA Academic All-District Award

UPLAND, Ind. – For the second time in as many years, Taylor's Mason Degenkolb was named to the CoSIDA Google Cloud Academic All-District II NAIA Team for men's basketball, as voted on and announced by the College of Sports Information Directors of America.
Degenkolb was one of five men's basketball student-athletes from the NAIA to receive the honor from District II, which consists of all NAIA schools within the states of Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana and Tennessee.
The junior shooting guard boasts a cumulative grade-point average of 3.81 with a major in accounting and averaged 14.8 points, 3.8 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 0.9 steals per outing for the Trojans during the 2018-2019 campaign. Degenkolb also shot a career-best 39.3 percent from beyond the arc this season and rated among the NAIA's best with an 88.9-percent rate from the charity stripe.
The Tipton, Indiana native closed his third season with the Purple and Gold ranked No. 26 in program history with 1,356 points to go with 249 career assists.
Degenkolb was joined by Kendall Bradbury in earning CoSIDA Google Cloud Academic All-District honors on Thursday and moved Taylor's total number of CoSIDA All-District awards to 14 for the 2018-2019 year. The duo will advance to the ballot for the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team, which will be announced on March 14.
The CoSIDA Google Cloud Academic All-District award is designed to recognize student-athletes for outstanding achievements in the classroom, as well as on the court or field of play. In order to be eligible for the honor, an athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 or higher on a 4.0 scale, must have achieved sophomore status academically with at least one full year at their current institution and must have participated in over half of the team's competitions as a key contributor during the current season.
Student-athletes are nominated for the award by their institution's Sports Information Department and voted on by CoSIDA members from around the nation.
