Robinson Named to Preseason All-Crossroads League Squad
AVON, Ohio – The Crossroads League announced its 2019-2020 Preseason All-CL Team and Coaches Poll on Wednesday. Taylor was selected to finish seventh, with Ryan Robinson representing the Purple and Gold as one-of-10 student-athletes to garner preseason accolades.
Robinson was named a Preseason All-Crossroads League selection after closing his junior season with a second-straight All-Crossroads League postseason nod. The slashing guard paced TU with 17.5 points per game and added 3.3 assists, while rating 34th in the NAIA with an 83.0-percent clip from the charity stripe one year ago.
The Hamilton, Ohio native scored at least 20 points for the Trojans in 13 games during the 2018-2019 season and netted double-figure scoring totals in 27-of-31 contests to climb to 31st on TU's all-time scoring charts with 1,306 points.
In the preseason coaches poll, Taylor was picked to finish just back of Bethel and Saint Francis, while being picked ahead of Grace, Huntington and Goshen. Spring Arbor was picked to finish first, followed by Indiana Wesleyan, Mount Vernon Nazarene and Marian.
The Trojans closed the 2018-2019 season at 11-20 overall, after suffering seven defeats by a margin of one or two points, or in overtime and with half of their losses coming by six points or fewer. Taylor is returning each of its top-five scorers from last season with the hopes of bouncing back to post a winning record for the third time in four years.
The Trojans are set to open their 2019-2010 campaign inside Odle Arena against Great Lakes Christian on Tuesday October 29 at 7:00 pm.
