Hubbard Claims Fifth CL Player-of-the-Week Award

JACKSON, Mich. – Jason Hubbard was honored as the CL men's basketball Player-of-the-Week for the fifth time this season on Monday afternoon, when the Crossroads League announced its athletes of the week.

The senior was named the CL Player-of-the-Week for three consecutive weeks in December and has claimed the honor five times in the last seven weeks. Hubbard has now amassed seven CL Player-of-the-Week awards during his time as a Trojan.

Hubbard averaged a double-double during that past week, at 27.0 points and 11.5 rebounds per game, while adding 2.0 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.0 block per game. The forward was efficient in his scoring efforts, shooting 60 percent from the field and 82 percent from the charity stripe. Hubbard led Taylor to a vital home victory over Mount Vernon Nazarene (10-10, 3-7 CL) on Wednesday, as TU is tied for fifth in the Crossroads League.

Hubbard has become the only Trojan player to score over 2,000 points and grab over 1,000 rebounds in program history, as he holds TU's record for points with 2,277 currently and is third in rebounds with 1,049.

Hubbard continues to pace the CL in points per game with 24.1, which ranks fourth nationally, and sits third in the CL in rebounds per contest with 8.9.

After Hubbard's latest honors, TU Athletics has claimed 35 Player-of-the-Week awards in 2022-2023, while the honor marks the fifth for the Taylor men's basketball program this season.

Taylor (12-9, 6-5 CL) steps onto the hardwood again on Wednesday, January 25th, against Goshen (2-18, 0-8 CL) on the road, with tip-off scheduled for 8:00 pm.
