FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Sophomore Mitch Lamping posted a round of 1-under-par 71 to lead the Taylor men's golf team to a final round score of 302 as the Trojans claimed their second tournament title in as many starts on Tuesday.
Taylor entered the final round with a two stroke lead over Holy Cross and Madonna and the Trojans carded the lowest round of the day on the challenging par-72 layout of Autumn Ridge Golf Club to secure a three stroke victory over Holy Cross.
Lamping's round of 71 vaulted the Liberty Township, Ohio native into second place in the 48-player field with a two-round total of 145 (+1). Freshman Jeremy Ray, who entered the final round as the co-leader after an opening round 71, battled back from some early mistakes to finish with a 77 and in a tie for 4th with a two-round total of 148.

Sophomore Trey Turner continued his steady fall season with his third top-20 after rounds of 77-78. Senior Stefan Fahlen also showed resilience with a around of 79 as TU's drop score.
The Trojans showed impressive depth in the victory with all four players on the TU 'B' team also posting scores in the 70's. Freshman Chase Picken carded a round of 75 while sophomore Josh Stimmel and junior Nathan Edwards each finished with 78's and junior Jordan Hall added a 79.
The tournament title was the second in as many starts for the Trojans who also took home the team title in the 16-team Arnie's Intercollegiate Invitational last week. The Trojans will close out the fall portion of their season on Oct. 19-20 at the Kohler Classic at the site of the 2015 PGA Championship, Whistling Straits Golf Course in Kohler, Wisconsin.
