Taylor Competes at No. 10 Huntington in CL Match
HUNTINGTON, Ind. – Taylor's rain-suspended Crossroads League match at Huntington resumed Friday morning, with the Foresters claiming a 4-0 victory after reaching the clinching point.
The dual match, originally halted Tuesday due to inclement weather, picked back up at 10 a.m. Huntington swept all three doubles flights to take the early lead, then won three of the first four completed singles matches to clinch the result before the remaining flights could finish.
Julian Tantera and Santiago Sarudiansky defeated Graham Beukelman and Tyler Lane 6-4 at No. 1 doubles in the most competitive flight of the afternoon. Pablo Lopez Real and Martin Capdevilla blanked Joseph Harper and Matthew Williams 6-0 at No. 2, and Marco Silveira and Paul Reupke did the same to Ian Helfert and Andrew Roth at No. 3.
Huntington carried that momentum into singles. Capdevilla defeated Harper at No. 2, winning 6-0, 6-1, while Sarudiansky defeated Beukelman 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3. Lopez Real closed out the clinch with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Helfert at No. 4. Play was halted in the remaining three flights once the team result was decided, with Tantera leading Lane 7-6 in the first set at No. 1 singles and Reupke ahead of Josh Dawson 4-1 at No. 5.
Taylor (4-11, 1-7 CL) returns to action Saturday when the Trojans travel to First Serve Muncie to face No. 16 Marian.
