HUNTINGTON, Ind. – Matt Hall ran away with the individual Crossroads League Championship on Saturday at Huntington, finishing 20 seconds up on the closest competitor and helping the TU men's cross country team finish third in the nine-team field.
"As a team, we had multiple great performances despite having a less than perfect day," remarked head coach Lance Vanderberg. "Our depth was key to closing the gap on Marian and Matt ran an outstanding race up front."
Hall turned in the fastest time of his three-year career with the Trojans, crossing at 25:13.3 to claim his first Crossroads League Championship and second-straight All-Crossroads League honor.
Stephen Cho also qualified for All-Crossroads League honors with a 12th-place finish and a time of 26:32.6, while Micah Bragg (26:57.9), Jonathan Taylor (27:01.0) and Tanner Dye (27:13.8) finished in 20th, 22nd and 24th to round out TU's top-five finishers.
The Trojans placed 12 runners inside the top-50 at the 121-runner event, showcasing impressive depth and promise, with each of TU's top-nine finishers set to return to the program in 2016.
TU ended the race with a team time of 132:58 and 72 points to finish well ahead of No. 22 Bethel (107) but just 11 points and 11 seconds behind No. 15 Marian for second place. No. 5 Indiana Wesleyan rolled to the team title with a time of 129:58 and just 32 points.
No. 17 Taylor closes its 2015 regular season with a head-to-head win-loss mark of 76-17 and will wait to learn if it will receive an at-large bid to the NAIA National Championships in Charlotte, North Carolina on November 21.
