AVON, Ohio – Hunter Smith put together a spectacular race at the Bullock Invitational on Friday, finishing second place and earning the Crossroads League Male Runner-of-the-Week honor.
The junior long-distance runner cruised to a 26:26.1 time for the 8k race at Taylor, cutting three seconds off of his time from the season-opener on September 7th. Grabbing second-place, Smith played a key role in the Trojans victory on Friday, taking down No. 8 Madonna and No. 12 Indiana Wesleyan.
Smith has been a consistently strong competitor for TU, earning a third runner-of-the-week honor and adding his fifth top-10 finish of his career.
Smith, Alex Berends (women's cross country), Megan Williams (women's soccer), Samantha Korn (volleyball) and Haley Harrell (volleyball) were all honored this week by the Crossroads League to give TU a total of eight such awards this fall.
The Purple and Gold will return to the course on October 6th for the NAIA Preview in Cedar Rapids, IA.
