Taylor Races to Three All-American Awards
KANSAS CITY – Three Trojans earned NAIA All-American honors at the NAIA Cross Country National Championships on November 22. Daniel Gerber, Hunter Smith and Josh Roth earned the recognition for finishing within the top-30.
Gerber was honored as a NAIA All-American for the first-time, following his seventh-place finish at Nationals with a mark of 25:05. The junior logged five sub-26:00 marks this season, two of which were sub-25:00, including a career-personal best time of 24:42. Gerber has finished in the top-seven in five-of-six races this year. Gerber also led the Trojans as the top competitor for three races this season.
Smith ended his Taylor career grabbing the 26th-spot at Nationals to land his first NAIA All-American honor with a mark of 25:26. Smith put together a strong season with two top-10 placements, finishing in the top-three for TU five-of-six races. The senior posted a career-personal best time of 24:41 at the Louisville Classic, and logged sub-26:00 marks in five races this season.
Roth earned his first NAIA All-American award following his 29th-place finish at Nationals. Roth recorded his fifth sub-26:00 mark of the year, ending his junior season with a time of 25:27. Roth's impressive 2019 campaign included four top-20 finishes, and he finished as TU's top competitor for two races this season.
Gerber, Smith and Roth earned the 21st, 22nd and 23rd All-American honors in the history of the men's cross country program.
