Women's Golf Completes Regular Season at Ackerman-Allen Shootout
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – In the final event of the regular season the Taylor women's golf team teed it up at the Ackerman-Allen Shootout at Purdue University on Tuesday.
The Trojans entered a "B" team and an individual in the tournament played at Purdue University's Ackerman-Allen Golf Course. The 36-hole event was shortened to 18 holes due to adverse weather conditions on Tuesday morning.
Junior Raquel Helton carded the low round of the day for the Trojans with an 11-over par 83. Helton's day featured a trio of birdies, including a birdie putt from 40-feet on the par-5 6th hole and a near ace that resulted in another birdie on the 135-yard, par-3 8th hole.
Senior Grace Elenbaas added a round of 86 for the Trojans as did freshman Rachel Coers. Sophomore Lauren Murphy chipped in a 91 while sophomore Alexis Harris added a 96 and freshman Mariah Williams also fired a 96.
Huntington won the tournament title with a score of 336 while HU's Leah Thompson claimed individual medalist honors with a 5-over par 77.
The Trojans will now gear up for the Crossroads League Championships where TU will look to defend its conference title from last season. The 54-hole Crossroads League Championship will be played on Monday, April 30 and Tuesday, May 1 at Glendarin Hills Golf Course in Angola, Indiana.
