Trojans Take Title at Harbor Shores
BENTON HARBOR, Mich. – The Taylor women's golf team captured its third tournament title of the fall with a wire-to-wire victory at the Harbor Shores Intercollegiate.
The 18th-ranked Trojans bested 16th-ranked Bethel for the second time in as many weeks to claim the tournament hardware.
The Trojans entered the event with fond memories at the Jack Nicklaus designed Harbor Shores Golf Club as the Trojans cruised to a 38-shot victory at the venue last spring in the Crossroads League Championship. This fall the Trojans fired rounds of 320-331 on the demanding, 5,865-yard, par-72 layout to secure a nine-shot victory.
Senior All-American Nicole Jung led the way for the Trojans with rounds of 78-80 to finish in second place, marking Jung's fourth runner-up finish in five starts this fall.
Freshman Ellie Beavins collected her second top-3 finish of the fall, finishing in third place with rounds of 79-82. Fellow freshman Sabrina Langerak rebounded from a rough opening round to card an 80 in round two that included an eagle on the par-5 first hole. Langerak's two-day total of 166 (86-80) was good enough for a tie for seventh place.
Freshman Ellie Karst finished tied for 10th place with rounds of 81-89 while sophomore Elizabeth Kemper finished tied for 16th place at 173 (82-91).
Taylor will return to action on Oct. 18-19 when Taylor travels to Heritage Hill Golf Course in Sheperdsville, Kentucky for the Heritage Hill Fall Collegiate.
