Taylor Women's Lacrosse Opens First-Season with Win
WILMORE, Ky. – Taylor scored the first three goals of the day at Asbury and never looked back, leading throughout its inaugural women's lacrosse game and making history with a 17-13 victory.
It only took 71 seconds of game action for the Trojans to secure the first goal in program history, as Katie Turner took a pass from Addison Perry and found the net for a 1-0 lead at the 28:49 mark.
Turner added a second goal at the 25:00 mark and Greta Moore's free-position shot pushed the spread to 3-0 in favor of the Purple and Gold with 21:13 remaining in the opening half.
Turner would go on to score four times in the first stanza, including netting the final tally of the half to send TU to the break with a 7-4 advantage.
The lead stayed with Taylor throughout the second, with Asbury (1-1) trimming a 14-7 gap down to 14-11, before back-to-back Moore strikes put TU back in control and sent the squad on its way to the four-goal win.
Turner and Moore stole the show for the Trojans, with Turner getting four goals in the first half and Moore taking over with five scores in the second. Moore finished with eight total goals and two assists, with Turner adding five goals and two helpers.
