Daniels and Roden Earn Academic All-District Distinction

UPLAND, Ind. – Taylor University women's soccer seniors Kristiana Daniels and Amanda Roden were each recently named to the Capital One Academic All-District II First-Team, as voted on and announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
The award is designed to recognize student-athletes for outstanding achievements in the classroom, as well as on the field of play. In order to be eligible for the honor, an athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 or higher on a 4.0 scale, have reached sophomore status academically and have participated in over half of the team's competitions during the current season.
Daniels is a senior from Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she attended Forest Hills Northern High School. At Taylor, Daniels is majoring in psychology and holds a grade-point average of 3.76. In 2013, Daniels earned Academic All-Crossroads League and NAIA Scholar-Athlete recognition. On the soccer field Daniels has served as Taylor's starting goalkeeper in all 18 contests in 2014, posting the fourth lowest goals-against-average in the Crossroads League at 0.86. Daniels has also earned four Crossroads League Defensive Player of the Week honors throughout the season on the strength of six solo shutouts. Taylor has a total of nine shutouts on the year, which ranks No. 17 in the NAIA.
Roden is from Cincinnati, Ohio, where she attended Cincinnati Christian High School prior to her four years at Taylor. Roden is majoring in biology and has maintained a perfect 4.0 grade-point average. It is the second consecutive year in which Roden has earned Academic All-District, while in 2013 she also went on to be named a First-Team Academic All-American, an NAIA Scholar-Athlete, and an Academic All-Crossroads League performer. Roden has excelled on the soccer field as well, being named to the All-Crossroads League team in both her junior and senior seasons as a midfielder for the Trojans. In 2014, Roden is leading Taylor in points with 18 on eight goals and two assists.
The duo will now be placed on the national ballot for the Capital One Academic All-America Team, which will be voted on and announced on November 20th.
