Four Trojans Earn CoSIDA Academic All-District Recognition

UPLAND, Ind. – Lauren Engelkes, Megan Kammer, Nikki Zaino and Bailey Zehr were recently named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District II First-Team for women's soccer.
The award is designed to recognize student-athletes for outstanding achievements in the classroom, as well as on the field or court of play. In order to be eligible for the honor, an athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 or higher on a 4.0 scale, must have reached sophomore status academically with one full year at the current institution of enrollment and must have participated in over half of the team's competitions during the current season.
Engelkes was named to the Academic All-District II First-Team for the second-straight year, after earning Academic All-American honors in 2016. The junior owns a 4.00 GPA as a management and marketing major, while posting a 0.77 goals-against average in the net for the Trojans this season. The Rockford, Michigan native also grabbed 48 saves and notched four shutouts this fall.
Kammer joined Engelkes as a repeat member of the Academic All-District II First-Team, as the senior midfielder netted the same honor last year. The Omaha, Nebraska product boasts a 3.76 GPA in pre-art therapy and led the team with a career-high five assists in 2017. Kammer also set career-highs with six goals and 17 points in her final season with the Purple and Gold.
Zaino earned a spot on the Academic All-District II First-Team for the first time in her career. The senior forward posts a 3.36 GPA in exercise science and was second on the team with career-highs of 10 goals and 23 points this fall. The Elk Grove, Illinois native ranked sixth in the Crossroads League with 0.59 goals per game and seventh with 1.35 points per game.
Zehr, along with Zaino, was named to the Academic All-District II First-Team for the first time in her career. The junior midfielder boasts a 3.53 GPA in communication studies and paced the Trojan offense with career-highs of 12 goals and 28 points in 2017. The Windsor, Colorado product ranked fifth in the Crossroads League with 0.60 goals per game and sixth with 1.40 points per game.
Taylor's seven all-district selections thus far in 2017-2018 are tied with Duke for the most among all institutions of any level across the country.
Engelkes, Kammer, Zaino and Zehr will now be placed on the national ballot for the CoSIDA Academic All-America team, which will be announced on December 4.
