AUSTIN, Texas – Taylor University women's soccer player Lauren Engelkes was named CoSIDA First-Team Academic All-American in the College Division, as voted on and announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Engelkes became the second player in team history to earn back-to-back Academic All-America honors, joining Amanda Roden's consecutive first-team selections following the 2013 and 2014 seasons. The junior goalkeeper was named to the second-team a year ago, in addition to this season's first-team nod. The Rockford, Michigan native owns a 4.00 cumulative grade-point average as a management and marketing major and patrolled the net for the Trojans in 2017, ranking 25th in the NAIA with a 0.77 goals-against average, while shutting out four opponents.
Taylor now boasts 66 Academic All-Americans in school history, with 36 student-athletes earning First-Team Academic All-American status. TU women's soccer claims seven of those Academic All-America selections and four first-team honors.
