JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League released yet another compilation of weekly honors, in which Taylor women's soccer goalie, Hannah Brackenbury, was recognized as the CL Defensive Player of the Week.
The Grand Haven, Michigan, native collected three shutouts in TU's three-win week, while recording seven total saves. Brackenbury ignited her week's effort by securing all three of IU-Kokomo's shots-on-goal, as the Trojans went on to roll 7-0. Later in the week, Taylor went on to win 2-0 against Georgetown and IU-Tech, while Brackenbury collected an additional two saves in each of those shutout wins.
The Trojan goalie leads the nation with seven shutouts and is one of eight goalies in the NAIA who have maintained a perfect 0.0 goals-against average thus far in the 2021 season. Along the way, Brackenbury has collected a total of 22 saves.
The sophomore standout has been instrumental in TU's program-record start to the year. The Trojans have now rattled off seven-consecutive shutouts, which is both the longest shutout-streak to start a season and the longest shutout-streak period in program history.
As a result of the team's hot start, TU now leads the nation with seven shutouts, 206 shots and 111 shots-on-goal, while ranking fourth in the NAIA with 29.4 shots-per-game and fifth with 32 goals scored.
This week's honor marks the first time in Brackenbury's career that she has been recognized with a CL Player-of-the-Week award.
TU Athletics now boasts a total of 12 Crossroads League or MSFA Player-of-the-Week awards, three of which belong to Taylor's women's soccer team.
Brackenbury and the Trojans (7-0-0) return to action on Saturday, September 25, when they kick off league play against Mount Vernon Nazarene (3-3-0) at 7:00 pm.
