Trojans Fall to No. 21 Indiana Wesleyan
GREENTOWN, Ind. – Taylor fell 7-0 in Crossroads League play Saturday afternoon, dropping a road match against No. 21 Indiana Wesleyan at the Howard County Tennis Center in Greentown.
The result marked the fourth time this spring the Trojans have faced a ranked or receiving-votes conference opponent.
In doubles, the No. 1 pairing of Maddy Fuqua and Anna Stone fell 6-0. The duo has logged a team-high eight appearances together at the top flight this season, with a pair of victories. Ellie Schaufelberger and Delaney Dahl dropped a 6-1 decision at No. 2 doubles, while Evy Danemayer and Gracie Frazier fell 6-1 at No. 3, bringing their record to 2-4 across six appearances together.
Jillian Darby delivered TU's strongest singles showing at No. 2, competing through a pair of 6-2 sets. Darby, who has seen time at both No. 1 and No. 2 singles this season, moved to 5-7 overall across 12 singles appearances. Fuqua fell 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, where she has handled the top-flight duties for much of the spring. She stands at 8-9 in a team-high 17 singles appearances across three flights this season.
Schaufelberger dropped a 6-0, 6-0 decision at No. 3 singles, and Danemayer fell 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 while both have also made 17 total singles appearances. Stone fell 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 singles, moving to 6-10 in 16 appearances this season. Dahl, who has appeared in seven singles matches this year at the No. 6 flight, dropped a 6-0, 6-0 result.
Taylor (5-10, 1-4 CL) returns home Tuesday, April 7, to host Spring Arbor at 3 p.m.
