Trojans Roll to Saturday Victory
UPLAND, Ind. – Taylor capped its first-annual Amber McClure Fayerweather Memorial Tournament in style on Saturday afternoon, overpowering Bluefield 25-17, 25-18, 25-19 to finish the tournament without a blemish in three outings.
The Trojans had their way throughout the contest, led by a combined 31 kills and a .397 clip over 58 swings by the pairing of Amanda Adams and Ryan Czerniak. As a team, TU hit .257 and logged 25 more kills than the Rams (2-2) in the three-set affair.
Adams finished with 18 kills and 10 digs, while Czerniak had 13 kills and Grace Isaacs ripped seven kills in just 11 attempts. Kacy Bragg also recorded a double-double with 35 assists and 11 digs, and the Purple and Gold got two service aces each off the hands of Nikki Parrett and Karli Ware. Stephaney Fifield also led the backrow once again with a team-high 12 digs.
For their efforts over the weekend, Adams and Fifield were each named to the Amber McClure Fayerweather Memorial All-Tournament Team after helping the Trojans to a 3-0 record at the events.
Taylor (6-1) will now turn its attention toward Crossroads League play, with a Wednesday clash at Grace (3-1) up next for the Trojans. That CL opener for both squads is slated for a 7:00 pm start in Winona Lake.
