TU's Berends Collects Crossroads League Weekly Honor

AVON, Ohio – The Crossroads League honored Alex Berends on Monday as the runner of the week for her stellar run at the Bullock Invitational.
Berends crushed the competition on Friday, taking first-place by an incredible 20-second margin. The senior finished with a time of 17:58.1, which is her sixth-career race with a sub-18:00 5k time. The home race was also Berends tenth individual victory over her career.
Taylor took first-place with the help of Berends on Friday. TU was in total control over its eight opponents, leading second-place, No. 5 Madonna, by 34 points.
The fifth-year senior is no stranger to the Crossroads League weekly honor, earning the accolade for the eleventh time.
Berends, Hunter Smith (men's cross country), Megan Williams (women's soccer), Samantha Korn (volleyball) and Haley Harrell (volleyball) were all honored this week by the Crossroads League to give TU a total of eight such awards this fall.
The Purple and Gold will return to the course on October 6th for the NAIA Preview in Cedar Rapids, IA.
