Stayte Hits Second NAIA Standard of the Season at Fighting Chance Meet
JOLIET, Ill. – Taylor had a small collection of athletes compete on Friday at the Fighting Chance Meet hosted by Saint Francis (Ill.) and Jared Stayte hit another NAIA Standard to highlight the night.
Stayte completed the 1,500-meters in 3:50.75, his career-best in the event. The time also hits the NAIA B Standard to provisionally qualify Stayte for the NAIA National Championships in a second event after hitting the NAIA A Standard in the steeplechase earlier this season.
Across three races, seven Trojans completed the 5,000-meters. Nathan Burns paced the Trojan crew with a time of 14:41.78 and all seven finished with a time between 14:41.00 and 15:01.00. Burns' time fell just outside the top 20 in the NAIA.
The Taylor men will see another handful of athletes compete at the Fighting Chance Meet on Saturday, May 9th, beginning at noon.
