BASEBALL PICKS UP FIRST WIN, 8-6
The Taylor baseball team picked up their first win of the season Friday when they defeated Bryan College 8-6 in the opening game of the Bryan College Invitational.
After trailing 6-3 after 5 innings, Taylor scored 4 runs in the 6th inning and one run in the 7th inning to complete the comeback victory.
It was Taylor Kinzer who drove in the game-winning runs with a 2-RBI single in the 6th inning. A suicide squeeze by Taylor Wilde to score Nathan Hillery added the insurance run in the final inning.
Kinzer started the game on the mound for the Trojans, but Matt Kirkendale got the win in relief. Michael Kraynak pitched the final two innings to earn the save. The junior struck out two and gave up no hits.
The offense was led by Wilde and Paul Passiales, who each collected three hits. Hillery had two hits to go along with three stolen bases.
Taylor (1-2) will face Urbana University at 4 p.m. today.
