Romine Inducted into Bluffton Hall of Fame
Former Taylor Athletic Director Dr. Joe Romine will be inducted Friday into the Bluffton (Ind.) High School Hall of Fame for his achievements as a multi-sport athlete during his time as a Bluffton Tiger.
Romine will be honored during halftime of Friday night's varsity basketball game at Bluffton High School.
Currently a professor in the Department of Physical Education and Human Performance at Taylor, Romine served as Taylor Athletic Director from 1986-96. Leading up to that role, he was a Trojan assistant football coach for 23 years and head men's golf coach for 20 years.
A 1970 Taylor graduate and a faculty member since 1982, Romine played four years of football for the Trojans, including a stint as team captain during his senior season.
Romine was a four-sport athlete in football, basketball, baseball, and track at Bluffton. In addition to earning 10 varsity letters as a Tiger, he received the Ens. Robert Baumgartner Award, emblematic of the top all-around male athlete at the school. Following his senior football season, Romine was named to the NEIAC All-Conference football team.
After graduating from Taylor, Romine went on to receive his Master's in Physical Education and Health from Ball State University in 1976. In 1986 he received his Doctorate in Secondary Education, also from Ball State.
Romine resides in Upland with his wife, Carol. They are the parents of two grown children, Kelli and Kyle, and also have two grandchildren.
