BASEBALL SPLITS WITH MARIAN
The Taylor University Trojans split with conference foe Marian College Friday afternoon losing game one, 7-3, and winning game two, 6-1. Taylor is now 25-13 on the season and 11-5 in conference play.
Paul Passiales led the Trojans in game one with a 3-for-4 outing, including a leadoff home run to start the game. Cassidy Emery continued the early surge with an RBI double to give Taylor a 2-0 lead after the first inning.
The Knights responded with two runs of their own in the second to tie the game and each team recorded a run in the third. Marian went on to record four more runs in the game for the 7-3 victory.
Travis Carsten took the loss for Taylor allowing five runs on six hits in 3 1/3 innings pitched.
Freshman Travis Tomaszewski was the ace of game two throwing a complete-game one-hitter for the 6-1 win.
Passiales recorded his only hit of the game on a fifth-inning RBI triple that started a three-run frame for the Trojans. Taylor recorded seven hits on the game led by Michael Nassar's 2-for-4 outing. Michael Kraynak added two more RBIs to his team-leading total.
The Trojans play host to Indiana Wesleyan University at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
