Taylor Baseball Receives Votes in Latest Poll
KANSAS CITY – The RV Trojans picked up 15 points in Tuesday's NAIA Baseball Coaches' Top 25 Poll, as announced by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.
The TU squad has received votes in three-consecutive polls, boasting a 24-11 overall record with a 4-7 mark in the Crossroads League.
A big win over No. 16 Indiana Tech highlighted the last two weeks for Taylor. Throughout the 2019 campaign, the Purple and Gold have won the season series with the Warriors, taking three-of-four contests.
Pitching has been a staple of the Taylor team, ranking second in the NAIA with a 2.59 earned-run average and a .189 opponents' batting average. The staff has collected 288 strikeouts on the year, which ranks 16th in the nation.
TU's defense has also been strong with a .967 fielding percentage, ranking 14th in the NAIA.
Offensively, the Trojans have fired up the power with six home runs over the last two weeks. Freshmen Conner Crawford and TJ Bass each tallied a pair of homers during the eight-game stretch, contributing eight RBI with the long balls.
RV TU will return to the diamond on Friday, as the team takes on Spring Arbor (13-19, 6-6 CL) at 5:00 pm at Winterholter Field.
