Ben Kalbaugh was the spark at the plate for TU, collecting three hits on the day. The catcher logged a pair of doubles to go along with his first home run of the season. The big day for the sophomore helped the Trojans to a run in the second and fourth innings, bringing Taylor within one run with both scores.
Jonathan Foster and Nick Rusche paired up for the team's two-run third inning, leading off with back-to-back singles. Following Rusche's RBI single, TJ Bass put the ball in play to bring home the shortstop for a second TU run.
A 5-4 BU lead would hold steady from the bottom of the fourth through the top of the eighth. Garrett Simmons kept the Wildcats scoreless with two innings of work on the mound. The Ball State transfer notched four strikeouts without allowing a hit.
Bethel created separation in the eighth, adding three runs for the 8-4 final score.
