2023 NAIA Opening Round Upland Bracket Unveiled

KANSAS CITY – The NAIA has unveiled the 46-team field of competition for the 2023 NAIA Baseball Opening Rounds, including the four additional teams set to compete in the Upland Bracket alongside No. 19 Taylor (37-15).
The number-one seed in the Upland Bracket is No. 4 Tennessee Wesleyan (42-9), who will play Monday evening, May 15, at 6:00 pm against the winner of the four-and-five-seed play-in game.
RV Point Park (36-15) out of Pennsylvania will serve as the four-seed in that game, set to take on the fifth-seeded, Fisher College (29-23) out of Massachusetts in the Opening Round's first game, which is scheduled for Monday at 11:00 am ET.
Following Monday's opening game will be a matchup between the Upland Bracket's two and three seeds, No. 19 Taylor (37-15) and RV Cumberland (35-13-1), with that game scheduled for a 2:30 pm first pitch.
Tuesday, May 16, will then follow a similar schedule to Monday with games scheduled for 11:00 am, 2:30 pm, and 6:00 pm, while Wednesday, the 17th, presents a 2:30 pm semifinal matchup and a 6:00 pm possible championship game. If necessary, Thursday, May 18, would conclude the Upland Bracket opening round with a final game slated for 12:00 pm.
The winner of the Upland Bracket will earn an invite to the 66th-annual Avista NAIA Baseball World Series in Lewiston, Idaho, which is set to unfold between May 26 and June 2.
As the host for the 2023 NAIA Baseball Opening Round Upland Bracket, No. 19 Taylor (37-15) makes its ninth appearance on the national stage in program history, with its last two visits occurring in 2018 and 2022.
