Taylor Media Guides Voted Among Nation's Best
2010-11 NAIA-SIDA Publication Contest Results
Each of Taylor University's four athletics media guides were recognized as top 5 in the nation in the annual publications contests conducted by the NAIA-Sports Information Directors Association (NAIA-SIDA).
The organization, comprised of sports information directors at NAIA schools, announced the publication winners at the Ike Pearson Awards Luncheon on June 25 in Ave Maria, Fla.
Taylor was one of six schools in the nearly 300-member NAIA to place four media guides among the nation's top 5 in at least four different categories.
For the second straight year, the football media guide won "best cover" and finished second overall among all NAIA schools. Also receiving recognition in the NAIA-SIDA contest was the women's basketball media guide, which finished third overall after a two-year reign as "best in nation." The men's basketball media guide earned a fourth place finish, while the volleyball media guide finished in the fifth spot.
The 12 media guides produced by the Taylor sports information office over the last three years have all finished in the nation's top 10, including two "best in nation" awards and three designs that were voted "best cover."
The media guides were written, designed, and edited by sports information director Eric Smith with assistance from assistant sports information director Cameron Andry and student assistant Derrick Blyberg.
Photography in all four pieces was provided by Jim Garringer, Don Rogers, Adam Perry, and Timmy Huynh. Each cover was designed by Gary Gogis of Gogis Design.
