Taylor Athletic Department Launches Live Video Streaming
WATCH LIVE: Taylor vs. Anderson
UPLAND, Ind.-The Taylor University Athletic Department announced today that live video streaming is now available for select Taylor games over the internet. The digital service provided by Stretch Internet will give fans all over the world the opportunity to watch Trojan teams in real-time on their computer or mobile device.
This milestone venture will debut tonight (September 1) at 7 p.m. with the Trojans' football season opener against Anderson University in the annual battle for the Wagon Wheel. The first stream for the Taylor volleyball team is slated for 4 p.m. vs. Olivet Nazarene followed by a match against Indiana Tech at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 2.
"The athletic department's new venture into video streaming is a bold step that will advance our coverage to parents, alumni and friends," Taylor Athletic Director Dr. Angie Fincannon said. "We are excited to see this happen as an added value to Taylor University and the athletic department with yet another way to stay connected with our athletic programs."
During the 2011-12 academic year, all home regular and postseason football and volleyball games will be available this fall. Most men's and women's basketball home regular and postseason games will be available this winter via the live video stream. Audio from Taylor's radio partners will also be available for those four sports. There is a possibility that select road games could be streamed in the future.
Due to current hardware infrastructure, sports such as soccer, baseball, softball, and track & field will be part of a pilot program this year that offers limited free trial games to determine if upgrades will be required before the athletic department is able to produce a full season of high quality broadcasts at these locations in year two of the project.
Single games for all sports will be available for a fee of $4.95 with a full season of five football games costing $19.95 and all volleyball home games at a season rate of $38.95. Prices for men's and women's basketball as well as an all-sport pass will be released in the near future.
The fee for each sport also includes the ability to view games anytime in on-demand format.
All streamed games can be viewed on any computer with an internet connection as well as mobile devices such as Android, iPhone, iPad, and other popular smart phones and tablets.
Stretch Internet's GameCentral portal is included with every streaming account and provides a first-of-its-kind media player interface that combines video, audio, live stats, and live chat in a custom-branded portal.
Audio-only webcasts produced by Taylor's radio partners will continue to be offered free of charge through the same Stretch Internet portal.
