Taylor Football Tops NAIA with 15 Scholar-Athletes

KANSAS CITY – The Taylor University football team collected the most NAIA Scholar-Athletes in the nation for the third time in the past five years, this time posting 15 honors to lead the NAIA for the second-straight year.
Jacob Baker, Mark Baker, Daniel Boy, Hunter Brooks, Ben Davis, Craig Faulkner, Lucas Fotis, Brandon George, Tyler Gerig, Brady Hill, Grant Hohlbein, Kyle Kempton, Everett Pollard, Derek Wanner and Mitch Whedon were among the 392 football student-athletes from around the country to be named as 2018 NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
In order to be named an NAIA Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete must have achieved junior academic status at their current institution with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 and must have been nominated by their institution.
In addition to leading the nation in Scholar-Athletes, TU football also led all NAIA programs with eight CoSIDA Academic All-District selections and paced the Mid-States Football Association with 14 Academic All-MSFA performers with a GPA of 3.55 and above.
