TU Garners Votes in Fifth NAIA Top-25 Poll of Season
UPLAND, Ind. – Despite suffering a 42-35 loss to then-No. 12 Marian on Saturday, the Taylor football team continued to receive votes in the NAIA Top-25 Poll. The Trojans were among the 11 teams to receive votes just outside of the Top-25.
Taylor collected eight points in the new poll, falling just two points from the previous rankings and sliding down from the 32nd to the 34th-highest point total in the nation.
The Trojans sit at 3-3 as they get ready to begin their five-game MSFA Mideast League schedule, boasting wins over then-RV Saint Francis (IL), Kentucky Christian and Judson. Each of TU's three losses have come to teams now ranked inside the Top-25, including now-No. 11 Marian, No. 23 Olivet Nazarene and No. 24 Saint Francis.
Despite the tough slate of foes, Taylor has proven to tout one of the NAIA's most dangerous offenses. Through six games, TU ranks No. 13 with 43.7 points per outing, No. 12 with 474.0 yards per game and No. 2 with 274.7 rushing yards per game.
The Trojans have rushed for over 200 yards in each of their past five outings, while surpassing 200 yards passing and 200 yards rushing in three-straight contests.
RV Taylor (3-3, 0-0 MSFA) will open its Mideast League schedule on Saturday, October 18 with a 1:00 pm clash at Defiance (2-4, 0-0 MSFA).
