Stidom Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

UPLAND, Ind. – Taylor University's Kyle Stidom was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District II College Division Team for men's basketball, as voted on and announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday afternoon.
The award is designed to recognize student-athletes for outstanding achievements in the classroom, as well as on the court or field of play. In order to be eligible for the honor, an athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 or higher on a 4.0 scale, have reached sophomore status academically and have participated in over half of the team's competitions as a key contributor during the current season.
Stidom was one of only three men's basketball student-athletes from the Crossroads League to receive the honor, joining Brandon Vanderhegghen of Grace and Josh Ashwill of Mount Vernon Nazarene as Academic All-District standouts. Stidom and Vanderhegghen claimed two of the five spots available from District II, which consists of NAIA student-athletes from Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana and Tennessee.
Through the first 27 games of the regular season, Stidom is currently one of three players to rank among the top-10 in scoring, rebounding and field goal percentage in the Crossroads League, joining Clay Yeo of Bethel and Daniel Woll of Huntington. Stidom ranks second in the league with 19.0 points per game, fourth with a 53.4-percent clip from the floor and 10th with 6.1 rebounds per outing, while also ranking second in the CL and 11th in the NAIA by shooting 85.9 percent from the charity stripe.
Stidom was selected as a First-Team Academic All-District performer for the first time, boasting a 3.49 cumulative GPA in sport management and will now be placed on the national ballot for the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team, which will be announced on February 29.
Taylor now boasts 11 CoSIDA Academic All-District awards during the 2015-2016 year and has already earned five CoSIDA Academic All-America honors.
