KANSAS CITY – The Taylor men's lacrosse program landed the first two NAIA Scholar-Athlete awards in program history on Friday, with Tyler Gerig and Josiah Peterson garnering the recognition.
Gerig and Peterson were among the list of 34 men's lacrosse student-athletes from around the nation to be named NAIA Scholar-Athletes. Taylor was one of 10 programs to claim multiple honors.
In addition to their work in the classroom, Gerig and Peterson served as key members of Taylor's inaugural varsity season, helping the Purple and Gold post a 6-6 overall mark and receive attention in the NAIA Top-10 Poll.
In order to be eligible to be named an NAIA Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved junior academic status as their institution.
