KANSAS CITY – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics announced the Women's Basketball Division II All-Americans on Thursday, honoring Kendall Bradbury as First-Team All-American and Becca Buchs as Honorable Mention All-American.
Both athletes put together a historical season on their way to earning the 14th and 15th TU women's basketball NAIA All-American awards in program history. The duo helped the TU squad to a 30-5 overall record and an appearance in the Round of 8 in the NAIA Tournament.
Bradbury was named as an NAIA First-Team All-American for the second-consecutive year, joining Natalie Steele as one of only two Trojans to receive All-American honors four times in a career.
In addition, the Women's Basketball Coaches Association selected Bradbury to the 2019 WBCA NAIA Coaches First-Team All-America. This distinguished honor included NAIA Division I and Division II standouts, as Bradbury was one of only three Division II selections.
The Highlands Ranch, Colorado native was sensational in the 2018-2019 campaign. 798 points for the season led the NAIA, while marking the second-highest total in TU history. Bradbury completed a double-digit scoring effort in every game, finishing the season averaging 22.8 points per game, which ranked second in the NAIA and second in program history.
Bradbury also led the Trojans on the glass, grabbing 9.1 rebounds per game. The senior co-captain posted 319 boards for the sixth-most in Taylor history, while rating ninth nationally.
The 5-11 forward had a career year at the charity stripe, converting at an 87.3 percent clip from the free throw line. Bradbury got to the line often, sinking 165 foul shots, helping her nab the program record with 592 career free throws.
Always on the floor for the Trojans, Bradbury started in every game this season, while also playing 40 plus minutes in 13 contests. Consistent strong play helped the senior lead the team in points, field goals, rebounds and free throws.
The record books were altered quite a bit this season, as Bradbury capped off her historical career. The forward notched the TU career scoring record and the Crossroads League scoring record on her way to 2,850 career points. The incredible total put her in the ninth positon all-time in NAIA history. In addition, Bradbury picked up 1,010 career fields for a program-best mark, while recording 1,204 career rebounds for the second-most in program history.
Buchs received her first All-American recognition with her honorable mention selection. The junior guard had a breakout year, setting career-highs in every offensive category.
The Angola, Indiana native solidified herself as a premier three point shooter with a program record 110 treys and a 46.2 three point field goal percentage. Buchs finished the season ranked third in both categories in the NAIA.
A key cog in the TU offense, Buchs provided 589 points at a 49.2 percent rate from the field. The junior averaged 16.8 points per game for the season and added her best performance against Grace with 29 points and eight treys.
The NAIA Division II Women's Basketball All-American list consisted of 60 student-athletes with 10 spots on each of the first, second and third teams and 30 on the honorable mention list.
