UPLAND, Ind. – Taylor extended its shutout streak to four games with a 2-0 victory over Trinity Christian on Wednesday at Turner Stadium.
First-half goals from Lydia Johnson and Leah McQuade powered the Trojans (4-0-0), who dominated possession and outshot Trinity Christian 27-1, including a 13-1 advantage on target.
The win improved Taylor to 31-3-3 (.878) at home in non-conference play since 2016.
The four-game winning streak to open the season is the program's best start since 2022, as the Trojans received votes in the first regular-season edition of the NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll, released earlier in the day.
Johnson opened the scoring in the ninth minute, finishing off a sequence that started with Meskerem James winning possession in midfield. Morgan Fletemeyer slotted the through ball to set up Johnson's third goal in four games.
McQuade doubled the lead nine minutes later off a set piece. Libby Thomas' free kick from near the visitor bench area found Eliza Luttrell at the far edge of the box, and Luttrell's layoff set up McQuade's close-range finish.
The goal was McQuade's third of the season, tying Johnson for the team lead. The junior forward leads Taylor with seven points, while Luttrell's assist moved her into a tie for the team lead with two.
Fletemeyer, Kiana Siefert and Lydia Bailey each recorded two shots on goal for the Trojans. Trinity Christian (2-2-0) managed just one shot attempt in the 30th minute.
Brianna Rawlings earned the win in goal, with Ava Callaway preserving the shutout after entering later in the match.
Taylor travels to No. 18 Campbellsville on Saturday for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
