UPLAND, Ind. – Taylor (15-17, 5-12 CL) aced the test on Professor Night inside Odle Arena, defeating Goshen in three sets for an emphatic Crossroads League victory.
The Trojans were electric behind the service line, collecting ten service aces, the most in Crossroads League play this season, led by four from Lindsay Springer. Mckaylah Flagle and Chloe Holtz delivered two aces apiece, while Jen Springer and Selah Kolpien each added an ace of their own.
The back row was all over the floor, collecting 49 digs led by 12 from Flagle, as the Trojans held the Maple Leafs (8-23, 0-19 CL) to a .020 hitting percentage.
Offensively, TU was led by junior Grace Ieremia, who delivered her second straight match of hitting over .500. The transfer notched 11 kills tonight on 18 swings with a single error to bring her two-game total to 18 kills on 27 swings. Ieremia saved her best for the final set, in which she slammed home multiple balls, in which the sound of the hit reverberated across Odle Arena.
Taylor made quick work of Goshen in the opening set, taking an early lead of 10-2 and never looking back. The second stanza repeated the score of 10-2 before a run from the Maple Leafs cut the lead to three at 22-19. The Trojans regained their composure to score three of the final four points and take a two-set lead.
An early tie at four in the final frame quickly shifted to a 12-6 lead for TU, who calmly carried out a convincing win in a brief 76-minute match.
The Trojans will recognize seniors Savannah Streiter and Chelsea Hurt, who had two kills in Friday's match, before their regular-season finale on Saturday, October 28, against RV Marian (18-9, 12-5 CL), at 4:00 pm, inside Odle Arena.
