Trio of Trojans Hit Marathon Qualifying Time
SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – A trio of Taylor runners hit the automatic qualifying mark for the NAIA National Championships in the marathon on Saturday.
Jonathan Taylor and Joe Beamish both met the A-standard on Saturday on the men's side of the seventh annual Q-Elite Half Marathon in Spring Arbor, Michigan. Taylor clocked a qualifying time of 1:12:34 to claim 11th place while Beamish crossed in a time of 1:13:14 to place 14th in the field of 32 runners. The duo qualified for the marathon at the 2018 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships scheduled for May 24-26, 2018 in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
On the women's side Taylor's Michelle Franch clocked a fourth place finish with a time of 1:28:07 to also hit the A-standard on Saturday. Franch was the only Trojan to compete on the women's side and earned her spot in the marathon field at the 2018 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships.
