Trojans Finish Second at Emory
ATLANTA – The Taylor men's track and field team enjoyed a successful second day at the Emory Invitational, recording three NAIA qualifying marks and taking second place overall in the meet.
Leading the way on the final day was Caleb Anthony who took third place in the 110-meter hurdles with an NAIA 'A' standard time of 14.75 seconds. Anthony was the lone 'A' standard but was joined by Shauntis Lewis and the men's 4x400-meter relay team who hit the 'B' standard in the opening weekend of the season. Lewis punched his ticket to the outdoor national meet with a time of 1:52.65 in the 800-meter run. The men's 4x4 unit of Matt Sakeuh, Anthony, Isaac Cornfield and Darryl Robinson raced in with a time of 3:18.27.
Additional notable performances were landed by Daniel Gerber who took third in the 1,500-meter run, clocking in at 4:02.94. Robinson, along with helping the 4x400-meter relay team to an NAIA 'B' standard, added a fifth-place finish and a personal-best performance in the 400-meter dash, which saw him cross the finish line in 49:54 seconds. Jon DeHaan posted points for TU by taking third in the pole vault with a leap of 4.45 meters while Caleb Newcomer took seventh in the discus with a mark of 37.22 meters.
The Trojans will be back in action on Saturday, April 6th when TU will host the 2019 George Glass Invitational.
