TU Hosts 2019 George Glass Invite

UPLAND, Ind. – The Taylor men's track and field team's day on their home track was a fruitful one, which saw the Trojans record 18 top-10 finishes in 11 different events.
Leading the way for the Trojans at the George Glass Invite was the men's 4x400-meter relay team of Caleb Anthony, Matt Sakeuh, Shauntis Lewis and Darryl Robinson. The squad took top honors at the meet with a time of 3:16.86, which also takes them to the NAIA national championships as a 'B' standard qualifying mark. Sakeuh added to his day by earning a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.88 seconds and a third-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 6.7 meters. Alongside Sakeuh in the 400, TU picked up two additional top-seven performances with relay teammates Robinson and Anthony taking fourth and seventh place, respectively.
The TU men had a big showing in the 5,000-meter run as Josh Roth, Hunter Smith and Alex Helmuth made up a third of the top-nine finishers. Roth took second in the event with a time of 15:06.95 while Smith and Helmuth finished seventh and ninth.
The Trojans had other notable finishes on the day, including Daniel Gerber and Connor White taking third and fifth in the 1,500-meter run, Jon DeHaan and Noah Zaleski finishing second and seventh in the pole vault, Derek Van Prooyen earning a fourth-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, and Gerber and Joey Ferguson both scoring for TU in the 800-meter run.
Next weekend, TU will make their way to Muncie to take part in the Ball State University Challenge on Friday and Saturday. Action at Ball State is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon.
