Stout Stars for Fifth-Place Trojans at Crossroads League Championships

MARION, Ind. – Taylor collected 72 points at the Crossroads League Championships and finished fifth as the competition, hosted by Indiana Wesleyan, concluded on Friday.
Spencer Stout highlighted the action for the Trojans on Friday, taking home a second-place finish with a season-best mark of 15.13 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles before collecting more points with a sixth-place showing in the 400-meter hurdles.
Stout teamed up with Wade Jones, Quentauris Jones and Carter Newman in the 4x100-meter relay to record a third-place finish with a time of 42.36 seconds.
In the long-distance event of the day, Nathan Burns came in second in the 5,000-meters with a time of 14:41.75, which ranks just outside the top 20 marks in the NAIA this season. Nathan Meister added points in the event with a sixth-place finish.
Drew Elzinga continued competition in the decathlon, making a run for fifth before finishing sixth with 4988 points across the ten events. The freshman had a terrific showing in the event in his first stab in the decathlon.
Max Lambert continued to pace the Trojan throwers, finishing sixth in the hammer throw with a terrific toss of 149 feet.
The Taylor men will send a handful of athletes to the Fighting Chance Meet hosted by Saint Francis (Ill.) beginning Friday, May 8th at noon as the team prepares the NAIA National Championships at the end of the month.
