Kanai, Doctor Receive Crossroads League Honors

AVON, Ohio. – The Crossroads League office announced on Monday that two Taylor softball players received weekly league honors.
Lauren Kanai was named CL Player of the Week and Jessica Doctor was selected as CL Pitcher of the Week.
Kanai had ten hits in 20 at-bats in a four game stand against IU Southeast. She also recorded four runs with a slugging average of 1.100 percent and six RBIs, in addition to a home run and triple. The hot week boosted Kanai's season batting average to .500.
Doctor pitched a total of 12 innings over the course of three games against IU Southeast, with all innings finishing scoreless. The sophomore only allowed five hits and one walk while piling up nine strikeouts in 39 at-bats gaining her first win of the season along with two saves for the Purple and Gold. Doctor is currently fourth in the NAIA in saves with two.
Kendall Bradbury (basketball), TJ Bass (baseball), Noah Huseman (baseball), Kanai and Doctor all received honors from the Crossroads League this week. In the 2018-19 season, Taylor has totaled 33 Crossroads League honors.
After winning five straight, Taylor Softball (7-3) will play University of Rio Grande in a double-header on Saturday starting at 11:00 a.m. Both games will be played at Grand Park in Westfield, Indiana.
