Crossroads League Release | TU Honors Page
AVON, Ohio – The Crossroads League announced on Monday that the Trojans swept the softball player-of-the-week honors for the second time this season.
Jessica Doctor was selected as the Crossroads League's Pitcher of the Week and Erin Cozad was named Player of the Week.
Doctor went 2-0 in the circle for the Trojans last week, picking up a win against Grace and Huntington. She amounted 11 strikeouts in 12 innings of work and a 1.75 earned-run average. Doctor pitched a full seven innings against the Foresters. The only other time she's pitched a full seven innings was against No. 13 Indiana Wesleyan earlier this season.
Cozad won the honor after her big week in the batter's box. Cozad had a grand slam, two doubles, and two stolen bases, while going 5-10 at the plate in four games for the Purple and Gold.
Doctor and Cozad were joined by Nicole Jung of women's golf and Scottie Marston of men's golf in receiving CL weekly honors for the Trojans on Monday. The four awards give Taylor a total of 47 Crossroads League Athlete-of-the-Week honors so far during the 2018-2019 year.
RV Taylor (29-11, 21-7 CL) has won six of its last seven games. The Trojans will host Bethel (13-29, 8-22 CL) on Tuesday at Gudakunst Field. Game one will begin at 4:00 pm.
