AVON, Ohio – After two run-rule victories over No. 11 and cross county rival Indiana Wesleyan last week, Maddi Evans and Erin Cozad were named the Crossroads League Pitcher of the Week and the Crossroads League Player of the Week, respectively.
Evans shined in her first home start of the season, pitching a complete-game, two-hit shutout in the first game of the doubleheader. The sophomore only allowed one walk while striking out nine in her third victory.
On offense, Cozad highlighted Taylor's doubleheader sweep with a huge performance in game two, which included two three-run home runs. The senior collected four hits, two runs scored, and six runs batted in during the two-game set, and delivered the walk-off long ball in the Trojans' 16-8 triumph over the Wildcats in the nightcap.
With the news that the NAIA has cancelled the remainder of the spring season due to concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, Taylor (11-3, 2-0 CL) wraps up the 2019-2020 year with 31 athlete-of-the-week honors.
