JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League announced its weekly awards on Monday, and for the fourth time in her career Maddi Evans was named the CL Pitcher-of-the-Week for her performance in the circle.
As the Crossroads League Tournament came to an end, Evans threw an absolute gem against No. 14 Marian to grant Taylor the league's second automatic bid into the NAIA National Tournament.
The senior threw a complete game against the Knights, tallying an impressive 13 strikeouts and allowing only a single run to score. The righty started brilliantly, retiring the first nine batters of the game, four by way of the strikeout. Evans finished just as strong, striking out the side in the seventh to complete the game and ensure victory for the Trojans.
After an excellent run in the CL Tournament, Evans has totaled 173 strikeouts and 16 wins, with the senior looking to improve those numbers in the NAIA Opening Round beginning Monday.
Taylor athletes at large now boast a total of 44 CL or MSFA Player-of-the-Week awards during the 2021-2022 year.
