Kraft Tallies Career-High Kills in Crossroads League Defeat
UPLAND, Ind. – Ava Kraft announced herself to the Taylor faithful in front of a packed crowd during Homecoming weekend with a career-high 11 kills despite the Trojans falling in four sets to Huntington on Friday night.
The sophomore delivered an outstanding effort despite not seeing the court until Taylor was behind 20-12 in the first set. Kraft quickly got to work with two kills during her first three points on the court. The Mason, Ohio native took her chance while starting the final three sets, collecting nine more kills, a block, and four digs.
The Trojans were plagued by errors in the first and final sets, which proved too much to overcome as the Foresters ran away in the middle of each.
TU's offense was nearly unstoppable in the second set, notching 16 kills on 41 swings with only three errors for a .317 hitting percentage. Grace Ieremia and Gracie Conway combined for nine kills during the set without an error.
Huntington (15-11, 5-9 CL) rode an efficient attack in the third and fourth sets, hitting .205 throughout the match, to take the victory on Friday night.
McKaylah Flagle and Jen Springer were all over the court with 18 and 14 digs respectively, as Taylor (13-16, 3-11 CL) had 65 digs thanks to some long rallies throughout the match.
The Trojans will look to bounce back on Saturday, October 21, against Indiana Wesleyan (25-0, 14-0 CL) at 3:00 pm, back inside Odle Arena.
