Trojans Take Third in Alabama
ATHENS, Ala. – The Taylor men's golf team collected a third place finish on Tuesday at the Redhawk Spring Classic played at Canebrake Golf Club.
The 12th-ranked Trojans struggled to a final round tally of 299 (+11) on the 6,774-yard, par-72 layout of Canebrake Golf Club on Tuesday. Senior Mitch Lamping followed up his career low opening round 67 with a 1-over par 73 to finish in a tie for third place at 4-under par 140 to lead the Trojans.
Junior Jeremy Ray opened with a career low round of 4-under 68 and added a 78 in the final round to finish in a tie for 12th place at 146.
Junior Alec Dutkowski finished outside the top ten for the first time this season, tallying a 14th place finish with a two-day total of 148 (73-75). Senior Trey Turner was close behind, finishing tied for 15th place at 149 (74-75) while senior Nick Waskom finished in 19th place at 151 (75-76).
The Trojans started the final round in second place, five shots behind Blue Mountain College but TU slipped to third place in the final standings. Taylor recorded a two-round total of 581 (+5) while Blue Mountain finished at 563 (-13) and University of Mobile tallied a 573 (290-283).
Taylor returns to action this weekend as the Trojans return to Blackthorn Golf Club in South Bend, Indiana on Friday, April 13 and Saturday, April 14 for the Pilot Invitational.
