Taylor Closes Fall Season at Whistling Straits
KOHLER, Wisc. – The Taylor men's golf team concluded the fall portion of its season at iconic Whistling Straits on Tuesday.
The Trojans battled cold temperatures and strong winds en route to a seventh place finish in the 20-team field at Whistling Straits, the site of the 2020 Ryder Cup.
Senior Nate Morris led the way for TU with a top-10 finish. The Spencerville, Indiana native posted scores of 82-81 to finish in a tie for 9th place in the 100-player field.
Freshman Drew Pickering and junior Brady Roberts finished tied for 38th place at 172. Pickering bounced back from a difficult round one to card an 81 in round to while Roberts posted scores of 87-85.
Sophomore Jason Iler finished in 50th place at 175 (88-87) while freshman Erik Fahlen finished in 87th place.
The Trojans slipped down the leaderboard during Tuesday's final round, with a team score of 334. Taylor entered the day in fourth place but slipped to seventh place, one spot behind #RV William Carey.
The Trojans finished ahead of a trio of teams who appeared in the receiving votes category of last week's NAIA Coaches Top 25 Poll in Northwestern Ohio, Holy Cross, and Our Lady of the Lake.
Second-ranked Keiser rolled to a dominant victory while No. 3 Texas Wesleyan finished a distant second followed by NCAA Division II Ferris State.
